Spring is here … Saw this by the library today… Absolutely beautiful.
Was told it might be a deciduous magnolia flower

I grew up with a “regular” southern magnolia (magnolia grandiflora) tree on the side of the house. Growing up, I loved the furry leaf and flower coverings….and the big white fragrant flowers….

(Next time I’m at my childhood home I need to take a picture of the fuzzy/furry leaf coverings…) some leaf/flower coverings were so furry I could pretend I was holding a mouse and trick friends. Once, I soaked the dried coverings and shaved the hair off so I could tried to make deer skin” clothing for my barbies when I pretended they were Native Americans (from the prairie cultures).

Found these pics online but not great
